I know that you, like me, are probably working under trying conditions at the minute. There are a couple of questions that are important for me to know in terms of our online meetings next term. I'm sorry if these questions seem invasive and personal, but I want to make sure that we're accounting for everybody's circumstances as well as possible. Can you please respond to these questions as soon as possible after Easter and as concisely as possible:
1) Do you have access to a reliable broadband internet connection where you are working? Do you know if the bandwidth is suitable to sustain video conferencing (you can basically check this by skyping/WhatsApp/Facetime video calling for about 30 mins and seeing how stable the connection is)?
2) Is this internet connection via a WiFi router/LAN cable, or will you be relying on your mobile phone network? If the latter, is this sufficiently strong to maintain video calls and transfer data?
3) Will you typically be working primarily through a computer/tablet or will you have to use your mobile phone to access the internet? If the latter, are there any contract-related issues that might impact on your use of data?
4) Do you need/do you have a headset with a microphone?
5) Have you used Microsoft Teams yet? If you access your email through MS Outlook/Nexus 365 through the web browser, you can find this using the app launcher (the square of six spots) on the top-left corner of the page.6) Will you have a quiet/independent space where you can work (however intermittently)?7) Will there be particular times when this quiet space won't be available/when you won't be able to work?8) Will there be particular times when you have caring duties?
9) Have you had any difficulties buying any of the primary texts that I have prescribed? Have you tried to access any of the key secondary reading I have recommended and have there been any difficulties?
